A Challenging Start to the Beekeeping Year: Weathering the Storm and Embracing the Honey Flow

2024 has been a tough year for beekeeping. The exceptionally harsh winter and challenging early spring brought numerous obstacles. Many of us saw higher-than-usual colony losses due to prolonged cold spells and delayed blooming of forage plants.

Spring didn’t offer much relief, with unpredictable weather further delaying essential blooms. The bees faced a dearth of food sources, putting additional stress on already struggling colonies. Many beekeepers like myself had to supplement their hives with additional feed to help them through.

Despite these challenges, there is good news. The weather has stabilised, and the honey flow has begun. Fields and gardens are now bursting with blooms, and my

bees are busily collecting nectar and pollen.

The sight of a bustling apiary fills me with hope and optimism.

While 2024 has tested my resolve, I am hopeful for a bountiful honey harvest and a strong, healthy bee population moving forward.

Thank you for your ongoing support during this difficult time.
